VoxLAB, a Norwegian non-profit group for singers and composers in collaboration with HLM Productions, hosted The Deeply Listening Body and Voice Retreat June, 26. - 29. 2017
At the retreat participants learned to ground themselves and connect with their energy and creativity. We worked with listening, moving and sounding.
A joyful approach to the work made the atmosphere light. The focus in the experience was being mindful and nonjudgemental. Listening to, loving and accepting your body and voice as it is, in this exercise, at this moment.

We were guided by dancer-choreographer Heloise Gold, who has an amazing multidisciplinary career as a creator, performer and teacher. She is a master teacher of Tai Chi and, among many other things, a co-founder with the pioneering composer Pauline Oliveros and noted author Ione of the Deep Listening Retreats. Co-teaching with Heloise Gold was award winning composer-vocalist Kristin Norderval, who is an internationally recognized composer of electronic music and new works for voice, and a certified teacher of Deep Listening.
Kristin and Heloise teach the practices of Deep Listening - listening to everything possible in every way possible.
The exercises/meditations at the retreat were a mixture of Qi Gong, Tai Chi and movement and sounding improvisations. Exercises were done both outdoors and indoors.
